Long road has ended.

Once again, I’ve neglected this awesome tripawds community.  It’s been a rough few weeks of a roller coaster ride…ups and downs, twists and turns.  After Toto’s last surgery she bounced back really well!  She had some really great and happy days of long car rides and tail wags.  Until one day two weeks ago when she woke up and couldn’t get up off of her bed.  The vet treated her for an injury to her left rear leg just treating the pain with tramadol.  Next day, it’s like the incident never happened!  She had about 5 more great days!  Then last week, both rear legs kind of buckled under her and she couldn’t and wouldn’t even try to get up.  Vet gave her prednisone and we continued the tramadol and told us the cancer was most likely hitting her spine.  Guess what though?  Nearly a week of great days.  She also had “the cough” so we knew the cancer was now in her lungs as well.

Saturday night was bad…Sunday was worse.  I’m sorry to inform this community that Toto has lost her battle with histiocytic sarcoma.  She fought hard and I’m certain she had far many more pain free days than not.

I still intend to keep her blog running…with memories and pictures.  She was a dog with many little funny quirks to share.  And I fully intend on continuing to support this fine cause.

Thank you for the support over the past 3 months…I honestly don’t know how I’d have fared through it all without this community.

REST IN PEACE SWEET TOTO.

  2. I am so sorry to hear that Toto’s battle is over. But the battle was not lost, cancer could not destroy your love for each other.

Run free brave Toto and say hey to Jerry and all the others who have gone before for us!

Wishing you peace and sending you lots of tripawd strength from the Oaktown Pack.

She was so sweet and had a wonderful life with you, the best any dog could ask for. May those memories you shared and her amazing spirit shine on in your heart and guide your family through life for eternity.

P.S. Yes, please do come back and share all about her life, that’s why we are here. We would love to know all about her journey with your pack.

  4. oh Sweet Girl… You are now running free with none of that nasty stuff in your body.. no sickness… no pain and all four legs!!! How great is that!!! You were so loved.. and we know you will be missed terribly. We can tell that from the feelings we get from reading your mummy’s words. We can tell that from that sweet face of yours in your picture. And we look forwad to hearing more about your life.. seeing pictures and celebrating your life!

That is what our blogs become after we let our precious furkids go ahead of us on their next adventure…. a celebration of their life!!

Please continue and share Toto’s quirks with us.. they are awesome memories to share and a great way to look back and smile through the tears.

My heart aches with you at this time, for we all feel the pain when one of our Tripawd princesses or warriors run free..
I wish you strength and a touch humor to get through this. You know our cheeks are wet as we type our replies, and we are always here to let you scream, vent, cry and share.
And don’t worry.. cause… when you are ready, you can close your eyes, open your heart and you will feel Toto there.. Cancer will NEVER take that away!
    hugs
Christine….. with Franklin in her heart♥

  5. Not what I expected to read. I’m so very, very, very sorry. As others have said,we cry with you today. All tripawds are everyone’s family. And then when you have a sweet soul like Toto as part of our familt, she touchd our hearts from the second we saw that gentle soul! Such a gentleness that is so huge you can actualky “see it”! You sure as heck can “feel” it too!

Toto DEFINITELY had more QUALITY days with you than ot! DEFINITELY! And the “silver lining” is just that. She had a depth of care and loving and spoiling that ly people on tnis joirney can understand just how deep this love can be!

And the “silver lining” is Toto got to, not only experience the oyof these treasured mome ts with you, she got to leave these memories in your heart tucked safely away. Toto knows you will always have her joy, her love and her happiness with you. And that makes her tail wag! Yeah, that breeze you just felt? That’s her tail wagging fast and vurius because she kows she just made you smile thinking about her!!

I love the story ou shared withus avout how the vacuum cleaner “motivated” her to go up the stairs and sit under her daddy’s desk…..even tnough she had o business climving stairs yet!

I’m not bright enough to do the math, but those three months of extra lovngyou all shared…..well, in dog years….that’s pretty close to a year as far as Toto is cncerned!

And she enjoyed her life rightupuntil it was time to cross over to the other side. The other side where shenis still watching over you…the other side where her bright light still warms our hearts…..the other side where she can chase balls all day long without ever tiring….the other side where there are no vacuum cleaners!!

She is still with you…she will make her presence known! Nothing can separate the kind of connection you had! NOTHING! I am sooooooo glad you will co tinue Toto’s blog! You have millions of memories AND ohotos to share and we want to see them all, okay?

You did everyting POSSIBLD for beautiful Toto and she w that! And she k ew she could cou t on you to let her “exit” this life when she told you she was readh. That’s the ighest form of love we can ever share.

Do you have any puppy pictures? I think Toto as a pupy would OWN the cuteness department! There’s a post Michelle started called “Throw back Tursday” under “anything foes”…..or maybe “Shout out”……anyway, we’ve all been posting puppy pics.

We are all still here for you. You will have a tough road ahead…for awhile…reach ot to us…we derstand. There’s a lot of love surrounding you right nw. I hope you can feel it.

Swiiiiish….I thing I just felt another tail wag breeze….. ust be Toto wagging because sne can “see” the love vrom her location!!

We will NEVER forget Toto r the love you shared!

Surrou dingyou with ove a d Toto’s grace’

    Sally and Happy Hannah

  6. I’m so sorry to hear of this! You can tell by your photo how sweet she was. You gave her such a great life! You tried everything, it was unfortunately her time. Like the others said, she’s now running free and doing all those things she loves to do. She was lucky to have you in her life and her in yours.
