Waiting anxiously…again. :)

First let me say a gigantic THANK YOU for all the comments and good thoughts yesterday.  It was a strange day…as y’all know.

We went to see Toto last night.  She was trying desperately to get up and greet us but with the effects of her fentanyl drip and the slippery floor of her cage with an added blanket or two she just couldn’t manage it.  Our vet had to fly out somewhere, but the surgery nurse seemed very pleased with Toto’s progress and was happy she was trying to move!  She hadn’t been walked yet but they were going to do that as soon as we left.

I know someone said to not look at her incision site, but I couldn’t help it.  She has no bandages and the incision is SO much longer than I had anticipated!  Whew.  But, it’s clean and not leaking and looks like it’ll leave as small of a scar as possible.  Other than that, she seems very much herself!  Just a little drug-induced haze.  She looked at us as if she couldn’t believe we were leaving without her as we walked out but, of course, we promised her we’d see her today.

It’s now 10:00AM here and we were told we could most likely pick her up and bring her home at noon.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed but not holding my breath.  It all depends on how she does on her walks.

THANKS AGAIN for the input!  It is SO appreciated.  My friends and family have been great support, but I long for the advice and thoughts of people who have been there.  🙂

  1. Gayle,
The waiting is the hardest part. I am so glad to hear Toto is doing great so far. I hope you get to bring her home when they said you could.

    Hugs

  2. Gayle and family, yeah, a lot of “waiting anxiously” becomes the norm on this journey. To some small degree, as impossible as it may sound right now, you “almost” get used to it…….almost!

Okay, now that you’ve gone on and peeked at her site, that’s out of the way! Remember, she doesn’t care what it looks like and it certainly doesn’t startle her one way or another. She’s just lookng in your eyes and feeling the love!!

I’m sooooo happy she’s doing better. Believe me, we are all keeping our paws crossed over here for her homecoming TODAY!!

And the crowd roars, TODAY, WE WANT MILLER HOME TODAY:-) 🙂

Let’s see now…today’s silver lining is…….you could actually see some of her sweet self shining through the drugs!! Yeah, let’s go with that because, sometimes, that’s not the case this early on and with the heacy drugs!

Look forward to the homecomng update……-

  3. yeaaaaaaaaaaa!!! sometimes the silver lining is covered by a little grey haze… !!!
Sounds like Toto is doing well!!! And I am sure she will be happy, happy, HAPPY, to come home!!!!
The waiting has always been the worst part.. I remember bursting out in tears of relief when I finally got the call to say that surgery, etc went well and that my Frankiie was resting comfortably.
Geesh.. they certainly don’t put that warning in the dog owners manual do they!!??
    Looking forward to updates!!!
